Margaret McConnell Holt papers, 1962-1968.

The Margaret McConnell Holt Papers date from 1962 to 1968 and contain manuscripts, paste-ups, galley proofs and layouts of the booklet, Chinqua-Penn Plantation; some drawings and illustrations; correspondence chiefly between Mrs. Holt and George W. Hamer, Director of Development at UNCG, and A.W. Kelley, Assistant Manager, North Carolina State University Printing Office, concerning the illustrations, format, lay out, and printing of the booklet; and copies of a typewritten transcription of recorded conversations between Mrs. Jefferson Penn and Dean Mereb Mossman of UNCG concerning the building and furnishings of Chinqua-Penn, acquisition of art objects and anecdotes about Mr. Penn and their lives on the estate.

Margaret McConnell Holt was a 1930 graduate of the North Carolina College for Women (now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, or UNCG), and who went on to endow a scholarship fund for the UNCG School of Music and to receive an alumni award for her ongoing support of the university.
